Organic Crop Production Practices
(AMR 49)

This is a three-unit, hands-on course that introduces students to the principles and practices of organic production of annual crops. Topics include organic crop, soil, and pest management, cover cropping, composting, soil preparation, seeding, transplanting, irrigation, harvesting and marketing. The course includes one hour of lecture, one hour of discussion/demonstration and three hours of in-field practicum each week. During the practicum, students work in the Student Farm's Market Garden, participating in all aspects of growing and marketing organic vegetables. This fall quarter course is graded on a pass/no pass basis. This course is offered both Spring and Fall quarters and is graded on a pass/no pass basis.
