2007 Summer Internships in Organic Farming & Sustainable Agriculture

The Student Farm is offering a limited number of part time field-based, hands-on, 'learn-by-doing' internship in the Student Farm's Market Garden during Summer, 2007. The Market Garden produces certified organic vegetables year round for the Farm's Community Supported Agriculture subscription farming program and for the on-campus student run Coffee House. Because of the year-round nature of the MG's production, interns are exposed to virtually all phases of cropping cycle simultaneously throughout the year.

Internships are available from mid-June through the end of September; most internships will be 8 - 10 weeks long, although shorter and longer internships may be possible. Internship activities are primarily in the morning and early afternoon. Each intern will coordinate with Student Farm staff to develop a schedule of 15 to 25 hours of work each week.

All interns participate in many diverse crop production related activities in the Market Garden. Interested interns are given the opportunity to learn to operate and use tractors and associated farm equipment and use these skills in the Market Garden and in other parts of the Student Farm. Some interns may be able to participate in activities within the Ecological Garden, the Children's Garden Program or our composting operations. Such activities are arranged with individual interns in consultation with Student Farm staff.

Academic credit and fees for internships are optional. To request an application form or for further information, contact:
